Kat Fairplay Director of Venn Radio Productions CIC
Kat brings a wealth of experience to Venn Radio from both her professional and musical background. She has been working in IT for nearly 20 years, initially within local government as the SME for Microsoft 365 at three central London boroughs specialising in SharePoint, and is currently working as a Product Owner in a global technology company managing the development backlog of a multilingual intranet product. Her project management expertise in this field lends itself to bringing to life the radio project which is both a music and technology project.
Alongside her IT career, Kat is also a musician, DJ and music producer. She trained as a violinist when growing up in Hull and in her teens she led the City of Hull Youth Symphony Orchestra, and played for the Humberside County Youth Orchestra, Yorchestra, and the National Independent Schools String Orchestra. She also received a scholarship for lessons with the Deputy Leader of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra David Towse when she passed her Grade 8 with distinction. When she moved to London for university she shifted her focus musically to electronic music and has been performing and producing house and techno for nearly 20 years.
Kat is also a freelance music events coordinator and music consultant and has been working in the music industry for over 25 years as a club promoter, festival director, music programmer and a music consultant on various projects mainly in and around London. She was one of the Directors of the Stow Festival, a grassroots multi genre music festival in Walthamstow, founder of the Electronic 17 music community, and the Programme and Production Manager of the Glittering Plains dance stage at the Barbican's off site festival, the Walthamstow Garden Party.
She relocated her family back to Hull four years ago and is thrilled to be reconnecting with her home city again via the Venn Radio project!
